Einstein died 56 years ago, yet the theory of relativity lives on and is one of the most well know equations in history.
However, that could all change very soon.
Jacob Barnett is a 12-year-old from Indiana. He was born with Asperger's syndrome, which is a mild form of autism, but instead of impacting his learning ability in a negative way, the syndrome accelerated Jacob's learning ability 10 fold. He thought himself calculus, algebra and geometry in a matter of two weeks and graduated high school at 8 years of age. He is currently studying college level astrophysics and is also being recruited by Purdue University for a paid research position.
I don't know about you, but hearing about a kid like this makes me feel like my life is something to rofl over.
But that's not the best part. Jacob has been expanding Einsteins theory of relativity and may very well be a few equations away from disproving it. Professors at the Institute for Advance study, an institution Einstein himself was apart of, believe that Jacob holds the key to debunking the theory.
If I were Einstein, I'd feel like a douche for being disproved by a 12-year-old.
What does this mean for the world of science?
Click here to watch him explain calculus on Youtube. You won't understand.

That's amazing, the reasons why some people are born with sort of supercharged brains should be looked more into. The only bad thing is the kid not having a childhood at all...
It's funny how our mind works, it's like all you have to do is flip a switch and BOOM, genius.
Sometimes I don't know whether to feel sorry for smart children, or to apprecuate their smartness. I mean, that kid must have absolutely no childhood, like Patres said.
It's Sheldon Cooper, but real. RUN!
Kids should be kids, fucking smart ass kids are only annoying.
Einstein's friends always called him a douche, too. But mostly because of his hair.
I watched the video, and you're right. I didn't understand any of it.
He's going to be a rich man. Some one should direct him over to the competition about creating the mathematical formula for how water flows.
@Merkin I'm in the same boat for the most part, this was a good read and I hope that he accomplishes something amazing. Who knows maybe he'll be working on the theory of time travel with the hadron collider and discover dark matter.
what a kid, i hope for him he'll rule science like einstein ;)
smart kid, could be the next einstein
*Will be the next Einstein.
That is awesome, I want to hear more about him
You have to kinda feel sorry for kids that smart, him dealing with other people would be the equivalent of us dealing with people with Down Syndrome all day long.
Amazing,
following
Woah, imagine if he breaks the rules that hold the fabric of the world together! He has to be stopped!
Wow, that kid has a gift
Hopefully he doesn't lose his childhood over this..
Why have not I heard of this before now? This is a fantastic post!
fascinating.
Damn, nice find. I was wondering when something like this was going to happen.
Interesting post.
I both envy and pity that kid. The expectations on him are huge.
I don't feel sorry for this kid at all. It's not like he's losing his childhood to child beauty pageants or some other parent exploitation, if he is indeed a genius good for him, hopefully he can help advance mankind.
Quantum mechanics has contradicted relativity for years however they both seem to be correct, maybe this kid really can debunk one of them.
i doubt this kid is all that great. lets see.
Newton invented calculus in 2 days locked in a room by himself. Many people have lived that are as smart as this kid, and I'm sure one of them would have already disproven the theories of relativity at this point, but we'll see!
I'd feel like a total douche if a kid disproved my theory! ha!
My god, I thought I was a badass for starting Calculus at age 15. This kid is incredible!
He's just doing mathematics, not relativity
The video I linked to is just mathematics, yes. But if you google him, you'll find hundreds of articles on his work.
